Maui County, Hawaii, on Thursday sued Hawaiian Electric Co., alleging its failure to shut off power despite repeated warnings of the potential for devastating fires ignited the wind-swept flames that destroyed Lahaina this month.
The county is seeking damages and âjust compensationâ against Hawaiian Electric and three related companies, accusing them of negligence, according to the suit filed in the state's Second Circuit Court.

Mauiâs top emergency officials were on another island when the wildfires begun, it emerged on Wednesday â and did not join a call about the response until five hours after the blazes broke out.
Dozens of senior bureaucrats were gathering on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, on the island of Oahu, on August 8 for the annual meeting of FEMA coordinators in the Pacific region.
The first fire on Maui, the Upcounty Fire, broke out in the early hours of August 8.
Around 6:40am on that day, a school near Lahaina was evacuated, but an emergency response call was not held until nearly five hours later, at 11am.
The fire was declared âcontainedâ by 9am, CNN reported.
Yet by 3:30pm the fire had spread so significantly around Lahaina that an evacuation order was given for the town, and Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke, Hawaiiâs acting governor, activated Hawaiiâs national guard.

Residents in West Maui faced a barricade that blocked the only paved exit out of town when they attempted to escape the raging wildfires, according to the Associated Press, forcing them to evade the authoritiesâ obstacles.
Residents encountered a gridlock caused by several Hawaiian Electric trucks that were replacing telephone poles along the road to Highway 30, and received instructions from electricians to turn back into Lahaina, AP reported. âIt made no sense what they were doing,â Cole Millington, a resident, said, according to NBC News. âThey could see the sky was black. They could see the city was on fire. They could see the wind was still whipping everything around. But they were already starting to plant new power poles.â
Many residents could not escape the traffic and abandoned their cars to jump in the Pacific, making the gridlock even worse, according to The Washington Post.
According to a report by AP, the only road out of Lahaina was barricaded.

âThe gridlock would have left us there when the firestorm came,â Kim Cuevas-Reyes, a resident who drove into the wrong lane to escape, said, according to AP. âI would have had to tell my children to jump into the ocean as well and be boiled alive by the flames or we would have just died from smoke inhalation and roasted in the car.â
The wildfires have burned approximately 2,170 acres in Lahaina, according to CBS News. There have been at least 115 deaths.
Hawaiian Electric did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundationâs request for a comment.

A man who was able to escape the wildfire that swept through Lahaina â destroying the town and leaving scores of people dead â described the horrifying moments the fire overtook the town.
Craig Bradley said wind âfunneledâ the fire right into Lahaina as people were still sleeping.
âIâm just horrified. Itâs just so much heavy smoke being pushed at such a high velocity,â Bradley explained.
âItâs just being funneled straight into Lahaina from right across the highway from Lahaina, like maybe a couple hundred yards or something. And thereâs a couple houses in that spot and theyâre going up: âBoom, Boom!â" he added.
Another survivor said she was surprised by the quickness with which the fire came upon the town.
Hawaii governor Josh Green said âvery littleâ was left of Lahaina, with more than 2,700 structures destroyed in what is now the deadliest U.S. wildfire in more than a century. Ninety-six people have been confirmed dead so far.

The video below (starts around the 10:40 minute mark) shows melted aluminium from cars and talks about the high temperatures needed for this and other events to occur, which is much higher than normally found in forest fires.
It also shows blue objects that did not burn and a blue laser being tested to burn different coloured fabrics - it can be used to set fire to them - but when the laser is over the blue coloured fabric, it does not scorch it. Interesting as colours have a frequency:

LAHAINA UPDATE - MEDIA BLACKOUT
There are some really SCARY developments happening out of Lahaina, that are being totally IGNORED. There is an intentional MEDIA BLACKOUT taking place around the whole region. Even more, there are âspecial policeâ in the form of foreign vehicles that wouldnât normally be used as police cars stopping people. On top of that, there is a blacked out fence that is being erected around the whole parameter. There is a MAJOR COVER UP taking place there.

I have been through piles and piles of material on Lahina. Here are the bullet points on what happened there.
Power lines did not start the fire.
The hurricane did not produce the perfect wind, I strongly suspect a weather warfare system did.
The fire was arson, and even if it was not additionally lit once it reached Lahina, (it was) but even if that was not done, I think the weather warfare system alone would have done a comparable job.
It is absolutely obvious that the fire was re-spawned where needed (to ensure complete destruction where wanted) by a space based laser, which was probably recently launched by Nasa. I am typing this offline so I can't look it up right now, but recently Nasa launched an enormous rocket and I 100 percent believe it launched a weapons platform that will be used to spark fires everywhere.
The police did indeed blockade people into Lahina to get the death count as high as possible. Not all of the police were in on this, there were normal cops in with the fire telling people to evacuate and guiding traffic while the rogue cops were keenly placed perfectly to trap everyone and force them to burn to death. Who was in charge of it all? The same police chief that oversaw the Vegas police force during the Harvest Festival shooting in Vegas. FIGURE THE ODDS, that puzzle piece alone is 100 percent proof both the Harvest Festival and Lahina were government ops.
Lahina was burned for the sole purpose of taking the land, which is why the police barricaded people in. The so-called elite wanted to take the ancestral lands from Hawaiians who were sitting on it indefinitely via contracts with the U.S. government that in effect made the land a protected "indian reservation" for as long as the locals did not sell it off. They were refusing to sell it off. And with many many many ancestries now wiped out, the land is there for the taking.
It is a hard reality that not a single private property owned by the island's Jewish inhabitants burned. Not ONE, not ONE SINGLE elitist propety burned, even though there were plenty RIGHT THERE.
Prior to the fire, the WEF singled out Lahina to be re-built as a smart 15 minute city. And the WEF wanted all of Maui to be a "smart island" Therefore, the existing infrastructure was very inconvenient.
9.The elite have expressed concern about Martha's vineyard being too close to the mainland, and about the seasonably cold climate. They want a different Island to hide out on while they burn the world, and Maui fits the bill perfectly.The above bullet points are certified fact. From these points, here is the story.
Lahina was burned by the elite who want to take Maui and convert it into a playground sanctuary. They want the population dead and faked a disaster to accomplish that. Most likely they used a recently deployed weapons platform sent up by NASA on "the largest rocket ever launched", a weapons platform that probably also sparked the fires in Greece, Turkey and Canada. It will be used to fake "climate change" - a well known hoax which they are now blaming the wildfires on. With this weapons platform they'll have no problems eliminating "competition and inconvenience" wherever it is, whether it be a car on the highway that "mysteriously caught fire and immediately exploded, killing everyone", a rebel hideout in the wilderness, or the home of an inconvenient doctor that suddenly simply had an instantaneous fully involved fire in their home that left zero time for anyone to evacuate.
