Russia announces start of Baltic Sea naval drills

Russia announced Wednesday that it had begun naval exercises in the Baltic Sea, amid rising tensions with its European neighbours over the conflict in Ukraine.

Russia regularly holds naval drills in the Baltic Sea, often in response to NATO exercises in the area.

The Russian navy has played a key role in Moscow’s assault on Ukraine by pummelling the Western-backed country with ship- and submarine-launched cruise missiles, among other weapons.

“The Ocean Shield-2023 naval exercises have begun in the Baltic Sea,” the defence ministry said in a statement.

It added that 30 warships and boats as well as 20 support vessels would participate alongside some 6,000 military personnel.

During the drills, the navy will practise how to protect sea lanes, transport troops and military cargo, and defend the coastline, the statement said.

“In total, it is planned to perform more than 200 combat exercises, including with the use of weapons,” it said.

Ukrainian Drone Targets ZNPP Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility - Russian Security Forces

Ukrainian militants on Wednesday attempted to attack Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant’s (ZNPP) spent nuclear fuel storage facility with a drone, Russian security forces told Sputnik.

"The analysis of the course of the drone showed that the attack drone was moving towards the spent nuclear fuel storage facility on the territory of the ZNPP. Damage to nuclear fuel containers can cause a nuclear catastrophe and death of people" the security forces said.

Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian drone moving towards ZNPP was intercepted in Energodar.

"Today, an UAV of Ukrainian units, which was heading in the direction of the Zaporozhye NPP, was seen in the sky over Energodar. With the skillful actions of our employees, the device was intercepted and landed. Upon examination, it turned out that this UAV was a strike UAV. The probable target was the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP," the security agencies said.

The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant was liberated by Russian forces in March 2022. Since that moment on it is persitently shelled by Kiev regime. Moscow has repeatedly stated that such attacks should be considered as acts of nuclear terrorism.

Ukraine launched its much-touted counteroffensive in early June after repeatedly delaying the campaign over a lack of military supplies from its Western donors. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that progress was "slower than desired."

Russian Nuclear Submarines To Be Equipped With Zircon Hypersonic Missiles – Firepower and Maneuverability, Five Times Faster Than Sound

The War in the Ukraine has showcased the vibrant and fast-adapting Russian military industrial complex, that reinvented itself in just a few months, achieving superiority in the production of all kinds of equipments: tanks, drones, artillery, aircraft, ammunition – and missiles.

Now it surfaces that the nuclear-powered cruise missile submarines of the Yasen class are being equipped with the new, 5 times faster than sound, Zircon missiles.

“Russia is in the process of equipping its new nuclear submarines with hypersonic Zircon missiles, the head of Russia’s largest shipbuilder told the RIA state news agency. […]

‘Multi-purpose nuclear submarines of the Yasen-M project will be equipped with the Zircon missile system on a regular basis’, Alexei Rakhmanov, chief executive officer of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), told RIA.

‘Work in this direction is already underway’.”

The Yasen-class submarines, also known as Project 885M, were built to replace Soviet-era nuclear attack submarines and modernize the fleet.

“The sea-based Zircon hypersonic missiles have a range of 900 km (560 miles), and can travel at several times the speed of sound, making it difficult to defend against them.”

The Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov has been already equipped with Zircon missiles.

The sheer speed of the missiles and the relative quietness of the launch platform will further complicate NATO’s efforts to develop countermeasures.

Hypersonic weapons, are a way to gain an edge over enemy defenses, because of their speed and maneuverability.

“In January, the Zircon system was first deployed on the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, which was bound for the Atlantic and Indian oceans and the Mediterranean Sea.

Weeks later, Putin said Russia would start mass production of Zircon missiles as part of efforts to boost the country’s nuclear forces.

A U.S. Congressional Research Service report on hypersonic weapons published in February said Russia and China were designing hypersonic missiles to be used with nuclear warheads.

The U.S. and Japan are expected to announce an agreement in the coming days to jointly develop missile interceptors for hypersonic weapons, in light of a growing threat from North Korea, Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun reported Monday.”

The arming of the subs with the new missiles is part of a larger effort to re-equip the Russian fleet.

Sputnik reported:

“The nuclear submarines of the Yasen class are currently equipped with the Kalibr and Oniks cruise missiles and the Fizik-type torpedoes.

The Russian Navy will also receive at least five more ships by the end of the year, Rakhmanov told Sputnik.

‘This year, we have already commissioned three new ships and repaired one. By the end of the year, we expect to transfer at least five more ships’, he added.”

Wagner is openly active in Mali and at least three other African countries, typically shoring up fragile regimes in exchange for minerals and other natural wealth.

In fact, the Russian military leadership is preparing the first Army of 25,000 drone operators! By 2030 this number will jump to 180,000 and with them hundreds of drones of all categories will be produced!

According to the Russians the Geran-2 ( Shahed-136 ), Lancet and FPV have changed the course of the Ukrainian war. Special mention is made, as you will read, of the Russian Lancet drones which have proven to be extremely effective.

"The Lancets have operated as a leading anti-aircraft system," say Russian military sources.

Ukrainians are already facing serious problems. According to a high-ranging Ukrainian officer, at night, the flight of Russian drones is exclusively by a characteristic sound, without visual contact, which makes it very difficult to impossible to destroy them.

Russian Transport Jet Arrives in Mali; Wagner PMC Forces Deploying to Niger

A Russian plane has landed in Bamako airport, Mali carrying hundreds of Wagner Private Military Company (PMC) fighters it allegedly picked up from Syria. Wagner is on its way to Niger to protect that country from "outside forces."

Wagner PMC has recruited thousands of veterans of the Syrian civil war, mostly men who fought on behalf of the Syrian government and defeated ISIS, Al-Qaeda and the FSA. These men have incredible combat experience against terrorists.

Syria is one of the first places where Wagner PMC proved its combat superiority to the whole world. Without their efforts, the Syrian president would’ve gotten the Gaddafi treatment from the west a long time ago. But he prevailed, thanks to RUSSIA and its elite fighting force, Wagner PMC.

Upon arriving Niger, Wagner reportedly told the new Niger administration never to worry about any foreign army on Niger soil and specifically assured the leadership that Wagner will take on the Americans head on, if they ever dare to get involved in the conflict with ECOWAS, or try to deploy their drones.

At the moment, there are about 5,000 RUSSIAN funded volunteer fighters in AFRICA: They are mainly active in Mali, Libya, Sudan, Central African Republic, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Wagner will undertake the protection of Niger's presidential palace in its capital city of Niamey, and the main infrastructures of the country potentially threatened by the impending Nigerian-led military action.

With a personnel capacity of about 230,000 men, neighboring Nigeria is expected to contribute far more soldiers to the operation against Niger than any other country in the bloc. However the two countries with the strongest armies in AFRICA, Egypt and Algeria have warned against any military intervention in Niger, and vowed they’ll not stand idly and let that happen.

Reportedly, the morale of Niger’s military personnel is at an all time high right now, given that nearly the entire population of Niger are in support of the military and thousands have signed up to fight with the Russian volunteer force, Wagner, in defense of their homeland.

Crux is reporting that Prigozhin may not be dead because he possibly was on a second plane. The latest report is that 8 bodies out of 10 have been found and he remains presumed dead. The MSM have been extremely fast to report his presumed death.

Russian mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was listed as a passenger on a private jet which crashed north of Moscow on Wednesday, the TASS news agency reported, citing Rosaviatsia, Russia’s aviation authority.

“An investigation has been launched into the Embraer plane crash that occurred tonight in the Tver region. According to the passenger list, among them is the name and surname of Yevgeny Prigozhin,” Rosaviatsia said.

Earlier TASS had reported that ten people had died after a private jet crashed in Russia’s Tver region north of Moscow. The jet, en route from Moscow to St Petersburg, was carrying seven passengers and three crew.

Now, the official TELEGRAM channel of Wagner PMC “Grey Zone” is claiming that the Business Jet owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin which has Crashed in the Tver Region of Russia was shot down by the Russian Military.

RUMORS ARE FLYING WHICH CLAIM THE U.S. DID THIS, WITH SPACE-BASED WEAPONS, BECAUSE THE CIA PAID PRIGOZHIN $6 BILLION TO OVERTHROW PUTIN, BUT PRIGOZHIN TOOK THE MONEY AND ALERTED PUTIN INSTEAD.

With such talk coming out of Wagner-related social media accounts, The American Embassy in Minsk, Belarus (The country where Wagner is presently located) is being evacuated.
