The US launched strikes on Iran’s Larak Island on Sunday, the first offensive in weeks — as the regime vowed revenge.
The US fired the attack after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were allegedly setting up another wave of underwater mines in the Strait of Hormuz, Axios reported.
“Earlier today U.S. forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island,” a US official told the outlet. “Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces were observed preparing to launch rockets with sea mines into Strait of Hormuz.
The attack “will be answered by the sons of Iran and will result in the punishment of the aggressor,” the IRGC told state broadcasters.

The IRGC says it destroyed maintenance infrastructure and fighter jet deployment sites, but Jordan reports its air defenses intercepted eight missiles at dawn, and U.S. officials insist nearly all the projectiles were shot down. Washington says the Larak launchers were being readied to fire sea mines into the strait, a claim Iran has not confirmed. With Tehran vowing that every attack will be met with a harsher response, Iran parading its air defenses in the capital, and the Strait of Hormuz once again at the center of the confrontation, fears of a far wider regional war are growing by the hour. - News Report.
