The Uganda Martyrs

In Uganda also known as Pearl of Africa every 3rd of June annually the martyrs who accepted to be burnt to death for the sake of their faith.

Back then the kabaka/king wanted these christians to renounce their faith for God and bow down to him which they refused.

Now it has become a religious ritual where people across East Africa even others moving on foot from different countries and far districts to Namugongo "shrines" to pray on this particular day for miracles and so forth.

The faith is overwhelming but done in a wrong way, worst of all the place is called Namugongo shrines. They testify though that they get miracles.

So today here in Uganda is a public holiday where majority have poured to Namugongo shrines.

Majority of the martyrs were catholics, few protestants and i hear two muslims but the most popular ones are catholics and are celebrated countrywide and neighbouring countries join.

John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
19:29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put [it] upon hyssop, and put [it] to his mouth.
19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the Spirit. King of kings' Bible - John
