The Spanish Premier says he is considering resigning following what he calls attacks on him and his wife in recent weeks.
In an open letter, Pedro Sanchez said he would be cancelling all his commitments to take time out to reflect whether it was worth remaining in post.
Recently, a Spanish judge opened a preliminary investigation into the wife of Pedro Sánchez over accusations of corruption following a complaint from the right wing union, Manos Limpias.
It is alleged that Begoña Gómez received favours from private businesses that won government tenders and were awarded subsidies.
Pedro Sanchez will take a decision over his future in the coming days, with an announcement expected on Monday.
The news comes weeks after Pedro Sanchez again reaffirmed his commitment to a UK / EU Treaty over Gibraltar.
