Well worth reading the whole book, I read it a few years back.

February 2024, on the day of a (partial) nationwide outage of cellular and internet service lasting for nearly 12 hours, the sky was cloudy (solid covering of grayness with no openings at all); I heard a very loud sound like a diesel engine not coming from the road, but coming directly above me in the sky. It was the type of sound that is not expected to be coming from above. It was loud, mechanical and not like an explosion, but rather like a very, very large "something", Because of the gray covering, nothing could be visualised. I posted the incident shortly after it happened here on this forum, but cannot locate that post. Being fresh in my mind at that time, I may have added more details and certainly the description would have been more accurate. Nevertheless, it happened and made little to no sense as to what that sound was.

I've also noticed smells related to low pressure weather and moist weather during my life and usually notice smells coming from various factories, depending on where the wind blows from.
In the reporting and discussions I've never seen the most obvious first detail being discussed, namely:-
Fog traps odors because low pressure keeps the air dense, preventing smells from dispersing. This makes odors, like those from factories, linger close to the ground. The moisture in fog also helps carry scents, making them stronger and easier to smell by binding to odor molecules and keeping them suspended in the air longer. So, fog intensifies and prolongs odors both through its density and moisture.
