Site of Ancient Mass Animal Sacrifices Discovered in Spain

Large-scale animal feasts and ceremonies were held during mass animal sacrifices at the ancient site known as Casas del Turuñuelo, according to an investigation published in the PLOS ONE journal.

Casas del Turuñuelo is an ancient site linked to the Tartessos culture. This culture developed from local groups that evolved during the Bronze Age in the southwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula.

El Turuñuelo, also called Casas del Turuñuelo and El Turuñuelo de Guareña, is an archaeological site in Guareña, province of Badajoz, Spain. It corresponds to the late Tartessian culture developed in the Middle Guadiana Valley in the southwestern Iberian Peninsula in the 5th century BCE after the downfall of the Tartessian archaeological culture's main core around the Guadalquivir valley by the end of the 6th century BCE. It consists of a big building which was ritually set on fire and buried after a hecatomb-like ceremony was performed.

This study helps us comprehend the order in which the animal sacrifices occurred and the rules followed in ceremonies that included festive banquets. The unique features associated with the sealing off of this structure under a burial mound offer clues as to the decline of the Tartessian culture.

The researchers highlighted the importance of their study, maintaining that “this investigation emphasizes the role of mass animal sacrifices within Iron Age European societies. Through zooarchaeological, taphonomic, and microstratigraphic analyses, it illuminates the practices of animal sacrifice and Tartessian ritual behavior at Casas del Turuñuelo (Badajoz, Spain).”

Not sure about the horses, but animal sacrifice would be consistent with Hebrew sacrifices during Holy Feasts on the Iberian Peninsula:

The word Iberia is a corruption of the word "Eber"ia / Heberia which means "Hebrew's Land ". Eber (from whom the word Hebrew derives) was the grand-sire of the Hebrew Abraham (who was NOT Jewish - Jewdah was not born yet - he was the great-grandson of Abraham) who in turn was the grand-dad of "Jacob/Israel" who sired the "12 Tribes of Israel", by his 12 sons. The word BRIT-ISH is Hebrew and it means "the people of the Covenant ", in other words "the People Israel " - ALL of whom are HEBREWS (NOT Jews). Gibraltar – British or Spanish

I am so thankful that Christ Jesus 2000 + years ago abolished the practice of animal-sacrfice and replaced it with 'Self'-sacrifice (crucify thy 'Self' daily - Amen.). The Divine in me
