RGP Commissioner reveals no treaty policing plan includes provision for greater public disorder

The RGP's Policing Plan for a no deal scenario and a hard border includes a provision for a rise in public disorder.

Speaking on last night's Viewpoint, Police Commissioner Richard Ullger said he would rather implement the plan for an open border because AI technologies and Gibraltar's robust judicial system will keep Gibraltar safe - particularly in respect of criminal gangs.

Should a treaty be agreed, Richard Ullger said he had no concerns about working with Spanish authorities on the ground.

On allegations made against the RGP by whistleblowers, whose statements weren't used in the McGrail Inquiry, Richard Ullger said these had been investigated by SIO John McVea and have not been progressed further. The Police Commissioner also revealed the RGP has already started compiling its own list of recommendations as a result of evidence heard at the McGrail Inquiry, which it will make public in due course.
