Another Israeli-linked ship confiscated by Yemen’s Houthi militias: Report

This comes after news this morning of an Israeli ship in the Arabian Sea being directly hit with an explosive drone.

Tehran: ZIM Haifa ship, another Israeli-linked vessel has been seized by Yemen’s Houthi militias, Iranian media reported a little while ago.

"Ansarullah Yemen seized Israeli ZIM Haifa ship", Iran Observer wrote on social media site X.

Ansarullah Yemen is the name used for Houthi militias.

"This is the second Israeli vessel seized by Ansarullah", it said.

"We are witnessing the total control of the Axis of Resistance over the maritime Chokepoints in the Middle East", it said.

Zim is the name of the largest Zionist shipping company.

The report is yet to be confirmed by independent sources.

This comes after news this morning of an Israeli ship in the Arabian Sea reportedly being directly hit with an explosive drone.

The drone targeted the Malta-flagged, French-operated CMA CGM Symi vessel while in international waters. The ship reportedly suffered damage after the drone exploded, but no crew members were injured.

The attack was likely carried out using an Iranian-made Shahed-136 drone on Friday, an unnamed US defence official told The Associated Press news agency on Saturday.

The Houthi militants had on November 20, 2023 seized Galaxy Leader, a ship partly owned by an Israeli businessman which was on its way to India from Turkey.

Tanker Hijacked Off Coast of Yemen in Third Attack on Israeli-linked Ships Since Gaza War Began

The seizure of the Central Park comes less than a week after Yemen's Houthi rebels hijacked a cargo ship partially owned by a company belonging to an Israeli businessman

Attackers seized a tanker linked to Israel off the coast of Yemen on Sunday, authorities said. While no group immediately claimed responsibility, it comes as at least two other maritime attacks in recent days have been linked to the Israel-Hamas war.

The attackers seized the Liberian-flagged Central Park, managed by Zodiac Maritime, in the Gulf of Aden, the company and private intelligence firm Ambrey said. An American defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters, also confirmed to The Associated Press that the attack took place.

USS CARNEY, SEVERAL COMMERCIAL SHIPS ATTACKED IN THE RED SEA: PENTAGON

USS Carney, several commercial ships attacked in the Red Sea: Pentagon

A US warship and three commercial vessels were attacked in the Red Sea off Yemen on Sunday — an intense development that American officials said appeared to be “fully enabled by Iran.

“The United States will consider all appropriate responses in full coordination with its international allies and partners,” the US Central Command warned in a statement of the incident, which ratcheted up maritime tensions in the Middle East during the Israel-Hamas war.

The USS Carney — which previously shot down missiles and drones aiming for it as it escorted a commercial vessel through the war-torn region — was targeted along with at least three commercial ships starting around 10 a.m. local time in an assault that lasted about five hours, the Pentagon and an unnamed US official said, according to The Associated Press.

The three commercial vessles were struck by the missiles, but it did not appear that the American warship was hit.

YEMEN’S HOUTHIS TRYING TO DISTRACT ISRAEL IN RED SEA: ANALYST

How Yemen is inflating Israel's war cost

By targeting Israel and Israeli-owned vessels, the Yemeni resistance threatens Israel's trade-based economy and exacts an international cost for Tel Aviv's devastating war on Gaza.

Despite facing its own war-stricken challenges and humanitarian crises, Yemen has consistently demonstrated unwavering support and solidarity with Palestine. In the Arab world, the poorest state in West Asia stands unparalleled in organizing massive pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

However, recent events mark a historic shift, as the Ansarallah-led government, for the first time, has directly engaged in strikes against Israel that originate from the territory of "Happy Yemen."

The extensive range covered by Yemen's missiles and drones in their journey toward Israel - exceeding two thousand kilometers - serves as a resounding rebuttal to US attempts to contain the conflict from becoming a wider West Asian one.

If there were any doubts about Sanaa’s prominent role within the Axis of Resistance previously, they are now unequivocally laid to rest.

Pentagon Confirms US Warship, Commercial Ships Under Attack In Red Sea

Update (1800ET):

US Central Command provided a detailed summary of the four maritime attacks carried out by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, targeting commercial vessels on Sunday:

Today, there were four attacks against three separate commercial vessels operating in international waters in the southern Red Sea. These three vessels are connected to 14 separate nations. The Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer USS CARNEY responded to the distress calls from the ships and provided assistance.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. Sanaa time, the CARNEY detected an anti-ship ballistic missile attack fired from Houthi controlled areas of Yemen toward the M/V UNITY EXPLORER, impacting in the vicinity of the vessel. UNITY EXPLORER is a Bahamas flagged, U.K. owned and operated, bulk cargo ship crewed by sailors from two nations. The CARNEY was conducting a patrol in the Red Sea and detected the attack on the UNITY EXPLORER.

At approximately 12 p.m., and while in international waters, CARNEY engaged and shot down a UAV launched from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen. The drone was headed toward CARNEY although its specific target is not clear. We cannot assess at this time whether the Carney was a target of the UAVs. There was no damage to the U.S. vessel or injuries to personnel.

In a separate attack at approximately 12:35 p.m., UNITY EXPLORER reported they were struck by a missile fired from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen. CARNEY responded to the distress call. While assisting with the damage assessment, CARNEY detected another inbound UAV, destroying the drone with no damage or injuries on the CARNEY or UNITY EXPLORER. UNITY EXPLORER reports minor damage from the missile strike.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. the M/V NUMBER 9 was struck by a missile fired from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen while operating international shipping lanes in the Red Sea. The Panamanian flagged, Bermuda and U.K. owned and operated, bulk carrier reported damage and no casualties.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., the M/V SOPHIE II, sent a distress call stating they were struck by a missile. CARNEY again responded to the distress call and reported no significant damage. While en route to render support, CARNEY shot down a UAV headed in its direction. SOPHIE II is a Panamanian flagged bulk carrier, crewed by sailors from eight countries.

These attacks represent a direct threat to international commerce and maritime security. They have jeopardized the lives of international crews representing multiple countries around the world. We also have every reason to believe that these attacks, while launched by the Houthis in Yemen, are fully enabled by Iran. The United States will consider all appropriate responses in full coordination with its international allies and partners.

Yemen adopts law that criminalizes recognition of Zionist regime

Chairman of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen Mahdi Al-Mashat has said that Yemen adopted law that criminalizes recognition of the Zionist regime and normalizing ties with it.

Al-Mashat said on Tuesday that the normalization of relations with the Israeli regime is a betrayal to the Arab and Islamic Ummah.

Referring to the adopted law that criminalizes recognition of the Israeli regime, he added that this law allows Yemen to act more effectively in confronting the Zionist regime and supporting the Palestinian nation and resistance.

He noted that adopting this law is in opposition to the wrong policy of some regional regimes on normalizing ties with the occupying Zionist regime.

Commercial Ship In Flames After Red Sea Missile Attack

USS Mason has responded to a distress call from the M/V Strinda that was struck near the Bab el-Mandab Strait.

Acommercial vessel is in flames in the Red Sea after being attacked by at least one missile fired from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen, two U.S. officials tell The War Zone.

The M/T Strinda was attacked by a missile coming out of a Houthi-controlled area in Yemen, two U.S. military officials told The War Zone. The vessel is battling a fire, the officials said. It was struck 60 miles north of the narrow Bab el-Mandab Strait, one of those officials told us. The Strinda is a Norwegian-owned chemical tanker, according to its owner, Mowinckel Chemical Tankers AS.

The Arliegh Burke class guided missile destroyer USS Mason responded to an emergency call and is now in sight of the Strinda, three officials told us. All three spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operational details.

Cruise missile strikes Norway-flagged tanker off Yemen

The US military says the missile was launched from a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen as the tanker passed the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. A Houthi spokesman later claimed responsibility for the attack.

US Central Command said a missile fired from a Yemeni area controlled by Iran-backed Houthi rebels struck a Norwegian-flagged tanker on Monday.

A Houthi military spokesperson said the Iranian-backed rebels had targeted the tanker with a rocket after the crew refused to respond to its warning calls.

Houthi claim responsibility

"The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a qualitative military operation against the Norwegian ship Strinda, which was loaded with oil" headed for Israel, Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said.

Saree said the Houthis would continue blocking all ships heading to Israeli ports until Israel allows the entry of food and medical aid into the Gaza Strip.

The assault on the oil and chemical tanker expands a campaign by the group targeting ships close to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
