A magnitude 8.7 earthquake just struck Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia today July 29th 2025 at 23:24 UTC. This is the strongest earthquake since the M9.1 Great Tohoku Earthquake of March 11th 2011. Tsunami warnings and advisories have been issued for much of the Pacific Ocean as it was fairly shallow at just ~18 km in depth.

Venezuela declares emergency after powerful quakes kill 32, injure hundreds
Two powerful earthquakes have struck Venezuela west of the capital Caracas on a public holiday, catching the country off guard. The first, a magnitude 7.2 quake at a depth of 22 kilometres, was followed just 39 seconds later by a stronger 7.5 magnitude tremor at 10 kilometres. Buildings were levelled or left badly damaged, while panic broke out at the country’s main international airport. Witnesses described scenes of chaos, with one saying it was “like a horror movie” as residents climbed over rubble to escape.
Interim President Delcy Rodríguez says at least 32 people have been killed and more than 700 injured, ordering the evacuation of buildings with severe structural damage. Hundreds of emergency responders are continuing search and rescue operations, while authorities have declared a nationwide emergency. Western Colombia in RUINS ! The Quake TERRIFIED 34 Million People Across Four Countries M7.4
A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10, 2026, at 7:34 a.m. local time. The epicenter was near San José del Palmar, Chocó, about 250 miles (400 km) west of Bogotá, at a depth of 66 miles (107 km).
Shaking reached all 32 department capitals and was felt in Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela. Cali, Pereira, Manizales and Quibdó were hardest hit.
