TESTING OF EUROPES EGNOS SATNAV DEPLOYMENT FOR EVTOL FLIGHTS BY EHANGS EH216...

In a project supported by the European Union, EHang will use their EH216 autonomous aerial vehicle to test the viability of eVTOL aircraft operations using the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS). As part of the Satellite Based Augmentation System Adoption in Multicopter VTOL Aircraft (SAMVA) program, the completely autonomous, all-electric aircraft will be utilized for flight experiments at Lleida-Alguaire Airport in Spain.

The purpose of EGNOS is to enhance the functionality of GNSS in Europe, including GPS and Galileo. The system, which reports on the dependability and quality of positioning data and offers modifications as needed, was created jointly by the European Space Agency and the air traffic control organization Eurocontrol to support GPS service. It will eventually fulfill the same job with Galileo, the European GNSS that is comparable to GPS
