Latest Royal Navy ship heading to Middle East, HMS Richmond, stops over at Gibraltar Naval Base

The latest ship in the Royal Navy's to head to the Middle East, HMS Richmond, has stopped over at the Gibraltar Naval Base.

The Type 23 Frigate, originally designed to hunt submarines but re purposed into other duties since the end of the Cold War, is deploying to the Red Sea in support of the Royal Navy's presence in the region.

It will sail through the Mediterranean Sea before transiting the Suez Canal to join forces already operating in the area.

The ship is making a brief stop in Gibraltar to take on stores and refuel.
