Gibraltarians won't be required to use new UK electronic travel authorisation system

Gibraltarians will not be required to use the new electronic travel authorisation system when the UK brings it online on the 8th January.

The UK has announced that non-EU travellers will have to apply for the ETA online when travelling in and out of Britain.

British or Irish citizens don't need an ETA, nor do you need one if you are travelling with a British Overseas Territories citizen passport.

The Gibraltar Government says Gibraltarians are UK nationals, and confirms this regime therefore is not affected by the measures.

A spokesperson says Gibraltar will consider whether to include similar measures depending on the outcome of UK/EU treaty negotiations.
