Gibraltar, the invisible guest at the green hydrogen maritime corridor event.

Two aspects have caught attention at the event organised by Cepsa at the Port of Algeciras to give prominence to the green hydrogen maritime corridor between the Campo de Gibraltar and Rotterdam.

The first one is the presence of the gigantic vessel Yara Nauma from the company Yara Clean Ammonia. It will be one of the ships responsible for transporting green ammonia from the south to the north of Europe and was docked at the north pier of Isla Verde Exterior.

The size of the ship, along with a commemorative panel located on the pier approximately halfway down the vessel, almost completely obscured the recognisable silhouette of Gibraltar, situated at the other end of the Bay of Algeciras. This was not coincidental: the event organisers wanted to avoid a photo of the authorities (including Felipe VI and Guillermo Alejandro) with the backdrop of the British colony to prevent any kind of interpretation.

On the other hand, there was an absence of institutional speeches. Sources from the Andalusian Regional Government consulted by Europa Sur explained that both the President of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, and the Third Vice President of the Spanish Government, Teresa Ribera, had agreed not to speak from the podium so that no one could interpret it as an event tied to the pre-election campaign for the 23rd of June.
