The mayor of La Línea de la Concepción, Juan Franco, participated this morning in a videoconference meeting called by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, with the mayors of the region to inform them of the progress made in the meeting held yesterday in the framework of the negotiation of the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union and its impact on Gibraltar.
Albares conveyed a message of reassurance, stating that although the agreement has not been finalized, progress is being made on many areas of interest.
The city's mayor commented that during this communication, interest was shown in matters such as the timelines being considered for the anticipated agreement, its scope, and other issues of concern in this area.
Furthermore, he acknowledged that any extraordinary information provided at this time could create distortions within the framework of the negotiation, expressing his anticipation for the agreement to understand the resulting legal framework.
As on previous occasions, Juan Franco emphasized the defense of the city's particular interests, mainly those of the workers, the situation of the fishing sector, and the consequences that could arise from the disappearance of the Customs or the joint use of the airport.
