Foreign Office to protest Spanish incursion into Gib airspace

The Foreign Office will be protesting to the Spanish Government after a Spanish state aircraft incurred into British Gibraltar airspace on Tuesday.

The Spanish Air Force plane flew close to a Royal Navy Wildcat helicopter as it was flying in Gibraltar airspace.

A convent spokesperson said there was no contact with Gibraltar Air Traffic Control, but the aircraft was visible at all times, and no other flights were affected.

He said the UK has no doubt about its sovereignty over British Gibraltar Territorial Waters and airspace.
