New proposals for the development of the Ex-Maritime Data Centre, overlooking Rosia Bay, have been invited by the Government.
Number Six says its preference is for a boutique hotel - and that it's open to "fresh ideas and innovative proposals".
Thee ex-Maritime Data Centre, known as the AHQ Building, commands a view over Rosia Bay, where Lord Nelson obtained supplies for his ships, and where his own vessel HMS Victory was towed, carrying his body, after the Battle of Trafalgar.
The bay is now beloved by fishing enthusiasts, scuba divers, and dog walkers - but it is falling into disrepair, made worse by each winter storm.
In its manifesto ahead of the election, the GSLP Liberal Alliance committed to restoring the bay with public money and without the involvement of developers - preserving its heritage and environmental value.
In this new call for expressions of interest, Number Six says the cash premium from the AHQ Building will be invested in the "gradual restoration" of Rosia Bay, along with other public funds when these are made available.
For the building itself, the preferred option is a boutique hotel, incorporating an information centre at the lower levels on Rosia Bay and its surroundings.
Any proposals have to work with the existing design and area - and take account of heritage and planning considerations.
Submissions should include concepts, layouts and sketches, as well as the premium offered.
