Hamas representative in Lebanon and member of the groupā€™s politburo Osama Hamdan said Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right cabinet wonā€™t be able to reap any benefits out of the ongoing onslaught against the Gaza Strip, stressing that Hamas fighters are engaged in ā€œfierce battlesā€ with ā€˜Israeliā€™ troops across the territory.

"Netanyahu and his Nazi cabinet have not been successful in achieving their political, military, and field goals, nor will they be in the future," Hamdan said at a press briefing in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Thursday evening.

"The occupying Zionist entity has exercised all methods of killing, destruction, starvation, and systematic extermination against our people in the Gaza Strip, with American and Western support,ā€ he added as the indiscriminate ā€˜Israeliā€™ bombing campaign against Gaza since October 7 has left at least 17,177 Palestinian martyrs, most of them women and children. More than 46,000 people have been wounded as well.

Hamdan added, ā€œZionist officials are trying to establish unreal goals to present an imaginary victory to settlers. This is while surrender and defeat do not exist in the lexicon of our people.ā€

The Hamas official underscored that the ā€˜Tel Avivā€™ regime is trying to clinch an imaginary victory through Netanyahuā€™s announcement that ā€˜Israeliā€™ forces have encircled the home of top Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar in Gaza, stating that the development comes irrespective of the fact that the building has already been bombed and demolished.

Hamdan also said fighters from his group are engaged in ā€œfierce battlesā€ with ā€˜Israeliā€™ troops in various neighborhoods across the besieged Gaza Strip, stressing that the invading forces are facing fierce and resolute confrontations from the resistance factions.

He said the ā€œactual numberā€ of ā€˜Israeliā€™ soldiers who have been killed and injured during confrontations in Gaza is ā€œmuch higherā€ than the figures announced by ā€˜Israeliā€™ authorities.

He went on to address family members of ā€˜Israeliā€™ captives in Gaza, saying, ā€œThe ongoing military aggression against our people will not return your children to you.ā€

ā€œThey will not return if the ground and air strikes donā€™t stop,ā€ Hamdan pointed out.

While some 100 aid trucks enter Gaza daily, the Palestinian territory needs 600 trucks carrying humanitarian supplies, the top Hamas official said elsewhere in his remarks.

Hamadan argued that areas in northern Gaza only receive a fraction of what has been allowed to enter the Strip, criticizing the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East [UNRWA] and the Palestine Red Crescent Society for failing to carry out their duties properly.

The top Hamas official went on to say that resistance fighters have managed to either destroy or damage at least 79 armored ā€˜Israeliā€™ military vehicles in Gaza City over the past 72 hours.

He underscored that Gaza-based Palestinian resistance fighters are fully prepared for any possible scenario, stressing they will firmly stand up against Israeli plans for the forced displacement of the Palestinian population from the region.

The Zionist regime launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the territoryā€™s resistance movements waged the surprise Operation al-Aqsa Flood in the ā€˜Israeliā€™-occupied Palestinian territories in response to the ā€˜Israeliā€™ regimeā€™s decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

Sura 22:39. To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, "I AM" is Most Powerful for their aid;-
22:40. (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is "I AM". Did not "I AM" check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of God is commemorated in abundant measure. "I AM" will certainly aid those who aid His (Cause) (of pulling them down)- for verily "I AM" is full of Strength, Almighty, (able to enforce His Will). (Sura 57:27; 9:107; Deuteronomy 12:1-5; Luke 2:41-42; Rev. 21:22).
22:41. (They are) those who, if We establish them in the land, establish constant prayer and give regular charity, enjoin the right and forbid wrong: with "I AM" rests the end (and decision) of (all) affairs.

The Israeli war on the Palestinian Gaza Strip has led to unprecedented tensions in the Red Sea, with the Yemeni Houthis (Ansar Allah) restricting access through the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The Houthis, who control most of Yemenā€™s Red Sea coast and possess a large arsenal of missiles and drones, are a part of the so-called ā€œAxis of Resistanceā€ which is allied to Iran and opposes Israel.

After the outbreak of the war in Gaza, the Houthis launched several attacks at the southernmost Israeli city of Eilat. They also seized an Israeli-owned commercial ship and attacked several others in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The group escalated on December 9 by announcing it will be targeting any ship passing through the Red Sea en route to Israel, regardless of whether the shipā€™s ownership is linked to the country. The decision was taken in response to the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

The French military announced later that one of its warships, the frigate Languedoc, shot down two drones coming ā€œstraight toward itā€ from a Yemeni port city held by the Houthis on December 9.

On December 11, the Houthis scored a victory when they hit the Norwegian Motor Tanker Strinda with an anti-ship cruise missile as it was sailing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait to an Israeli port. Later on the same day, French frigate Languedoc intercepted another drone that was launched by the Houthis.

The successful attack on Strinda forced Israel to deploy one of its advanced Saā€™ar 6-class corvettes to the Red Sea for the first time on December 12. Around the same time, several reports revealed a plan by the United States to form a task force in the Red Sea to counter the Houthis and escort ships sailing to Israel.

The recent moves by Israel, France and the U.S. didnā€™t intermediate the Houthis. On December 13, Two missiles were fired from an area in Yemen held by the group at the Marshall Islands-flagged Ardmore Encounter oil and chemical tanker near the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The vessel was not hit however. The U.S. military said that a drone was also shot down by one of its warships, the destroyer USS Mason.

Tensions in the Red Sea could escalate into a full-on conflict if Israel continues its war on Gaza. Any attempt to deter the Houthis with force by the U.S. and its allies will likely backfire. The only solution to secure Bab al-Mandab Strait may be to end the blockade on the Strip.
