“We must face a world where AI is already here and transforming our society. AI is also very brittle, ie it is easy to trick and/or manipulate. We need to develop ways to make AI more robust and to have more awareness on why the software code is making certain decisions – what we call AI-explainability.”

US air force denies running simulation in which AI drone ‘killed’ operator

Denial follows colonel saying drone used ‘highly unexpected strategies to achieve its goal’ in virtual test.

The US air force has denied it has conducted an AI simulation in which a drone decided to “kill” its operator to prevent it from interfering with its efforts to achieve its mission.

An official said last month that in a virtual test staged by the US military, an air force drone controlled by AI had used “highly unexpected strategies to achieve its goal”.

Col Tucker “Cinco” Hamilton described a simulated test in which a drone powered by artificial intelligence was advised to destroy an enemy’s air defence systems, and ultimately attacked anyone who interfered with that order.

Here’s how OpenAI plans to cleanse ChatGPT of false information

OpenAI aims to reduce AI hallucinations in ChatGPT by enhancing math skills, as process supervision shows promise in improving accuracy. On May 31, OpenAI announced its efforts to enhance ChatGPT’s mathematical problem-solving capabilities, aiming to reduce instances of artificial intelligence (AI) hallucinations. OpenAI emphasized mitigating hallucinations as a crucial step toward developing aligned AI.

In March, the introduction of the latest version of ChatGPT — ChatGPT-4 — further propelled AI into the mainstream. However, generative AI chatbots have long grappled with factual accuracy, occasionally generating false information, commonly referred to as “hallucinations.“ The efforts to reduce these AI hallucinations were announced through a post on OpenAI’s website.

AI hallucinations refer to instances where artificial intelligence systems generate factually incorrect outputs, misleading or unsupported by real-world data. These hallucinations can manifest in various forms, such as generating false information, making up nonexistent events or people, or providing inaccurate details about certain topics.

OpenAI conducted research to examine the effectiveness of two types of feedback: “outcome supervision” and “process supervision.“ Outcome supervision involves feedback based on the final result, while process supervision provides input for each step in a chain of thought. OpenAI evaluated these models using math problems, generating multiple solutions and selecting the highest-ranked solution according to each feedback model.

After thorough analysis, the research team found that process supervision yielded a superior performance as it encouraged the model to adhere to a human-approved process. In contrast, outcome supervision proved more challenging to scrutinize consistently.

[

OpenAI recognized that the implications of process supervision extend beyond mathematics, with further investigation necessary to understand its effects in different domains. It expressed the possibility that if the observed outcomes hold in broader contexts, process supervision could offer a favorable combination of performance and alignment compared with outcome supervision. To facilitate research, the company publicly released the complete data set of process supervision, inviting exploration and study in this area.
Although OpenAI did not provide explicit instances that prompted its investigation into hallucinations, two recent occurrences exemplified the problem in real-life scenarios.

In a recent incident, lawyer Steven Schwartz in the Mata vs. Avianca Airlines case acknowledged relying on the chatbot as a research resource. However, the information provided by ChatGPT turned out to be entirely fabricated, highlighting the issue at hand.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is not the only example of artificial intelligence systems encountering hallucinations. During a demonstration of its chatbot technology in March, Microsoft’s Bing AI chatbot examined earnings reports and generated inaccurate figures for companies like Gap and Lululemon.

AI scientists are developing a ‘digital brain’ that will surpass humans

Scientists are developing AI so advanced it could be compared to a “digital brain” that may be even better than the human mind – and we should be terrified, according to one insider. Kevin Baragona, founder of DeepAI, warned rapidly growing superhuman intelligence systems will usher in a new kind of future – and it is one that “should terrify you”.

For a man who has staked his livelihood and a decade of his life on generative artificial intelligence, it might seem unusual to hear him calling for a crackdown on the technology he helped develop.

And yet, the tech whizz has joined the growing chorus of Silicon Valley doomsayers who are trying to expose both the immediate and existential threats the software poses to our futures.

Is AI mentioned in the Bible? Yes, with catastrophic results

The dangers of AI, or artificial intelligence, have been at the forefront of recent news headlines, with a large majority of Americans, as well as tech giants including Elon Musk, warning it could put humanity's very existence on the verge of extinction.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll this week indicates "more than two-thirds of Americans are concerned about the negative effects of AI and 61% believe it could threaten civilization."

"There's some chance that it goes wrong and destroys humanity," Tesla CEO Musk told CNBC.

"Hopefully, that chance is small, but it's not zero. And so I think we want to take whatever actions we can think of to minimize the probability that AI goes wrong."

Even in 1999's fictional film "The Matrix," the entire world became a heap of ruins specifically due to AI, as Laurence Fishburne's character Morpheus tells Neo, played by Keanu Reeves: "What we know for certain is that at some point in the early 21st century, all of mankind was united in celebration. We marveled at our own magnificence as we gave birth to AI."

But might there be a biblical connection to AI?

Edward Snowden On Artificial Intelligence & "When The Machines Take Over"

Former NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden shares his thoughts on Artificial Intelligence and what it might mean for the future of humanity.

For decades people believed mass surveillance and big data collection was a “conspiracy theory.”

Thanks to whistleblowers like Edward Snowden, who worked for the National Security Agency (NSA), we know that every conversation we have and every move we make in the real and/or digital world is tracked and stored.

Snowden’s revelations revealed a mass surveillance system that not even George Orwell could have imagined.

Despite all of this activity being pervasive and illegal, the national security state has justified it, claiming it was for our own safety and protection. The masses have bought this idea.

Those who have exposed the illegal actions of powerful people, like Wikileaks’ Julian Assange, are subjected to prosecution and torture. Yet still, when it comes to other global issues, like COVID or climate change, we believe the words from the same powerful people and institutions that have been exposed as unethical. Why? Why is sound and legit information and evidence always ridiculed and considered a conspiracy theory just like mass surveillance was?

In terms of dialogue around these major global issues, what we get is often not detailed and nuanced, but instead talking points from a mass information warfare system designed to shape the perception/consciousness of the masses.

Big media and politics play the biggest influencers of mass deception. Why?So solutions can be proposed by the same powerful interests prosecuting those who expose them.

For example, climate alarmists may argue that we may need to block out the sun to stop global warming one day. But the important questions to ask are, what is the real motive behind this ‘solution?’ Would this even help our environmental woes? At what cost are we to accept their solutions?

Today, it seems most of today’s solutions are designed to put more power and control into the hands of the surveillance state, which seems to salivate at the idea of total population control.

One of the latest tools for this agenda could be artificial intelligence.

The Masses Awakening To This Dynamic?

The good news is the masses are becoming more aware of this deception, and are not so quick to accept the same old solutions carte blanche.

We live in an age where nuanced and meaningful discussions around these issues are happing en mass, just not by government and Big Media.

Isaiah 55:8 For My thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways My ways, saith the "I AM".
55:9 For [like] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

A closer look at the “projects” page on the group’s website reveals their interest in “tech philanthropy.” The website also claims to be “using innovative technologies such as the PRPS & DUBI blockchain tokens alongside the Giving Works charity” towards “a universal basic income for all.”

For instance, one user asked it about gay marriage, and it gave them the noncommittal “all love is love” answer, staying politically correct at all times.

Another user asked the chatbot to explain the Book of Genesis in terms of pizza, and the AI dutifully complied.

"It's AI Ashley": Oregon Radio Station Introduces World's First AI DJ

AI Ashley is the cloned voice of the station's midday host, Ashley Elzinga. The AI is powered by media company Futuri, which developed RadioGPT, the world's first-ever radio platform powered by AI.

RadioGPT uses Futuri's TopicPulse technology to scan social media and online news to identify the hottest topics and trends of the day. The AI can create radio broadcast scripts, even automate social media posts, and convert on-air content into podcasts.

"It's AI Ashley calling our first Taylor Swift winner," the cloned voice said as KBFF spoke with one lucky winner.

Live 95.5's parent company, Alpha Media, assured Tech Crunch that Elzinga would not be losing her job (yet) due to the integration of AI Ashley.

"It's a hybrid situation where we'll have traditional Ashley on during some segments, and we'll have AI Ashley on during other segments.

"In an instance where AI Ashley would be broadcasting, the traditional Ashley might be doing something in the community, managing social posts or working on digital assets or the other elements that come with the job," Phil Becker, Alpha Media EVP of Content, said.

Becker pointed out that Alpha Media's move to use RadioGPT isn't about saving costs but more about creating efficiencies.

The rise of AI in the radio industry comes as iHeartMedia, which owns hundreds of radio stations across the country, restructured its organization and laid off hundreds of people, and even invested in AI.

Twitter users weren't thrilled by AI Ashley. One person said, "This will wipe out swaths of jobs."

Recall Goldman told clients, "Extrapolating our estimates globally suggests that generative AI could expose the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs to automation," as up to "two-thirds of occupations could be partially automated by AI."

And it's only a matter of time before a tsunami of radio stations adds AI hosts that are indistinguishable from human voices. Next to be automated will be the local evening news.
