40 more body cams for police officers (in Gibraltar) this year

Funding for forty more police body worn cameras will be made available this year.

Justice Minister Samantha Sacramento explained to Parliament that the first set of body cameras purchased this year had resulted in great accountability, swifter prosecutions and fewer assaults on officers.

Investment is also being made into police software enabling officers to increase their capabilities in tackling corruption.

Meanwhile - the court service is going paperless... almost!

Digital dockets were trialled by the Supreme Court this year, and the system is now to be used for all criminal matters to improve communication between police, the court service and the Office of Public Prosecutions.
