"NATO has forgotten its history and instead adopts this Nazi history, this Nazi ideology. It's a disgrace!" – US analyst and former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter finds clear words for the growing influence of the Baltic states and their raging Russophobia within NATO. The history of the Second World War is deliberately distorted, the role of the Soviet Union is downgraded – or even collaboration with the German fascists is stylized as an "anti-Soviet resistance struggle". "They are trying to reinterpret the Second World War: not as the defeat of Nazi Germany, but as the beginning of the occupation by the Soviet Union. The Estonians, the Latvians, the Lithuanians, they were some of the worst collaborators. These were the people who openly sided with Nazi Germany and provided the manpower for the fight on the side of Nazi Germany. They killed the Jews and participated in the slaughter of innocent civilians." On the other hand, Ritter emphasizes the importance of the Red Army in the liberation of Europe from Hitler's fascism: "You know that about 75% of the German army was destroyed by the Russians. If these German forces had not been tied up in the East, the West would not have achieved victory." In contrast to the West – including US President Trump – Russia does not claim to have achieved victory alone, but as part of a great alliance: "The Russians have never turned their backs on the West when it comes to history. And for this reason, it is a shame that the West does not invite Russia to participate in the May 8 celebrations, because it was supposed to be a joint celebration of the joint victory over the terrible regime of the Third Reich of Nazi Germany. Instead, he denigrates the victims and the role that the Red Army, the Soviet Army, played." We also spoke with Scott Ritter about the looming threat of war between India and Pakistan, the scenario of a possible Ukrainian attack on the May 9 celebrations, and whether the US plans to buy Nord Stream. - Gegenpol.
