SCOTT RITTER: IRAN'S MISSILES PENETRATE EVERY DEFENSIVE SHIELD – INCLUDING THE US THAAD SYSTEM

"The Iranians have missiles with separate warheads, maneuverable warheads, accelerating warheads and warheads for deploying decoys. Nothing can defend itself against this. So Israel is defenseless." – This is how the US military expert and former UN weapons inspector, Scott Ritter, analyzes Israel's strategic situation. In an interview with GEGENPOL, Ritter warns Israel against launching an attack on Iran: "If Israel hits Iran, Israel will disappear. And that is really the debate that must now be held in Israel."
Although Israel could cause serious damage to Iran with an attack, the Iranian counterstrike would be devastating for Israel, according to Ritter. Apparently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying everything to involve the US in a conflict with Iran – a miscalculation, says Ritter, especially on the eve of the US presidential elections.
To secure Israeli airspace, the U.S. has made its THAAD missile defense system available to Israel – along with the U.S. soldiers who operate it. But according to Ritter, even this is no match for the Iranian missiles: "The THAAD system was under development and has been around for quite a while. It's not a new system. When it was developed and tested, it was never designed and tested against a threat of hypersonic missiles. Nor was it ever designed and tested against a hypersonic missile threat that arrived in a salvo that overwhelmed the system. The THADD system is not capable of stopping an Iranian missile attack."
And so the world is facing a "very dangerous situation": "I just want to ask the question: Where is the Congress? Where is the United States Congress in all of this? Has Congress called an emergency session and discussed it? Is Congress debating this right now? Has Congress decided that the United States should go to war against Iran? The answer is: No. So we have to ask ourselves what the hell is going on here."
