GAZA SHOWS BRITAIN IS AN OLIGARCHY: LETâS STOP PRETENDING IT ISNâT.

The United Kingdom is a liberal democracy, so we are told, but the idea that Westminster is the âmother of all parliamentsâ and represents a democratic model for the world is âa cultivated mythâ, according to Mark Curtis, the editor of Declassified UK. âIt is a huge ideological pillar of propaganda that maintains our undemocratic governance system â and that governance system âruns like an oligarchy.â
âOligarchyâ derives from the Greek word oligarkhes, meaning âa few governingâ and unless you have been asleep for the last few years, you will have seen that the people have no influence on policies, or who actually does the governing. The UK, complete with a Prime Minister who was never elected, an ex-PM who was made a lord to secure him the role of foreign minister and an âoppositionâ that fails to oppose the government, oh and letâs not forget the continual interference of Tony Blair etc etcâŚwe didnt vote for any of them, we are not a democracy and we need to stop pretending that we are.
Britain is an oligarchy and nothing has exposed this more that the chaotic situation in Parliament concerning Gaza. The article below authored by Mark Curtis, discusses this point and many others.

When it comes to UK foreign policy, our governance system is really not democratic. Britain is run like an oligarchy â and itâs vital we recognise the UK needs a democratic revolution.
A government led by a prime minister who hasnât been elected in a popular vote backs Israelâs brutal war, complete with mass killings and war crimes, with military and diplomatic support.
He does so with the support of the countryâs main opposition party, in the face of public calls for a ceasefire.
His government explicitly rejects a legal ruling by the World Court to the effect that Israel is plausibly promoting genocide.
Ministers do not face, and will never face, investigation for their complicity in those crimes or even any political sanction. The foreign secretary, Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton, is not even elected.
All the while, the media buries key features of UK backing for Israel â such as secret spy flights and facilitation of arms shipments to the Israeli war machine.
Does this look like a democracy?
