A state of emergency was declared in the Hamptons as multiple brush fires ravaged parts of Long Island Saturday, forcing some evacuations and shutting down the major road to the wealthy enclave as panicked residents watched the frightening scenes unfold. More evacuations were issued in Polk County as three massive wildfires continue to burn thousands of acres in western North Carolina. With over 3,000 acres burned, two of the biggest fires remain uncontained. As of Monday, the Black Cove fire had burned an estimated 2,813 acres and was 0% contained. The Deep Woods fire is approximately 2,742 acres and also 0% contained. The Fish Hook fire is 199 acres and 69% contained. Polk County officials said there are 249 personnel from across North Carolina and other states working to extinguish the fires. - WCNC News.
